Utah Federation for Youth invites you to take part in Global YouthService Day (GYSD). As the lead agency for the state of Utah, UFY is committed to helping you and your organization carry out a successful NYSD.
What is National Youth Service Day? GYSD, April 25-27, is a public awareness and education campaign thathighlights the amazing contributions that young people make to theircommunities 365 days a year. As the largest service event in the world,it mobilizes millions of young people to address the needs of theircommunities and educates the public, the media, and policymakers aboutthe year-round contributions of young people as community leaders.
Why Global Youth Service Day? Byparticipating on GYSD, you will not only be part of the largest serviceevent in the world but you will help youth in your community begin on alifelong path of service and civic engagement by mobilizing them toaddress the needs in their communities.
As lead agency for Utah, Utah Federation for Youth will help you plan, organize and implement your service project.
Our Goals
- To mobilize youth to identify and address the needs of their communities through service
- To support youth on a life-long path of service and civic engagement
- To educate the public, the media, and policymakers about the year-round contributions of young people as community leaders
Examples of Student projects
At a Nonprofit Organization:
- Read to children at a day care center
- Clean and repair a playground or park
At a Neighborhood/Individual site:
- Yard clean up/flower planting for a community member
- Landscape and clean up a neighborhood street
In-School Service Projects:
- Assemble “care kits” for the homeless, elderly, or disaster victims
- Collect food, clothing, books or other needed items
